Bumblebee works fine on my Z13 running stock Ubuntu 12.10. I too have
the problem that my laptop hangs on reboot.

I reported the problem on this ML but not on Ubuntu issues system. But
it look related to kernel (or some patch) than the specific distribution.

I got the same problem: I can't use sony-acpid anymore for lack of
kernel support to light sensor. The sony-vaio-zseries doesn't compile
on kernel 3.8 (official Ubuntu 13.04 kernel). I have to figure out how
disable nvidia card (I always use the intel one) but it should be
doable with bumblebee. Any other vanilla-kernel way?
Thanks

Can you advise where you reported the issue? Mario and I can add
to this and hopefully bring further attention to the issue. I'd
really like all the functionality I had back.
Does any one know how another way to get the light sensor to
control the screen?

It is kernel issue, i tried to report it --- no response from
them. It doesn't fail actually it does reboot, but it make
take almost a minute. Try to leave it like that after you try
to reboot. For keyboard light you can turn it on automatically
as you type, or switch it on off with acpi, there is also
driver for that but i didn't like it as it as well sets
display brightness. (cant find link now but it made by zx2c4
if i remember right)

Hello Guys,
Just done a new install on my VPCZ11C5E, I'm currently
running Arch
Linux.
Mdadm picks up the raid perfectly and bumblebee/primus
does an awesome
job of dealing with the graphics.
However, I am having issues with rebooting/powering off.
Powering off I
can force but my device simply fails to reboot. I think
this is a kernel
issue.
The sony-laptop-zseries module no longer compiles under
the latest
kernel either and though some features are implemented,
things like the
ambient light sensor and ODD power are not, I understand
this is no
longer maintained but if anyone is able to update this, I
would be most
grateful.
