Hi,
I can confirm to you, that it is normal aging of those laptop models,
and almost laptops. The thermal paste used in production is a very bad
product. You have to unmount all of your motherboard, and change the
thermal paste with a good one. I've done that on my VGNZ21, and on a
VPCZ11. Running now as brand new one.
But take care! There are a lot of small connectors, and don't forget to
remove the battery. You can brake some fuses on the motherboard if the
battery is connected when you are playing with the connectors.
Good luke.

Hi
I've got VPCZ1. I use this laptop since 2011. I have posted a tutorial
how to install Gentoo on it.
I'm using Ubuntu now (13.04 for the matter) with i3wm as a window
manager.
I think since updating to 12.04 my vaio started to restart
occasionally. Recently I realised it's because it is running hot. I
installed lm_sensors to check the temp now and it looks like it's
running always above 60C, while work it is going up to 80C. It is
switching off when jumping over 100C.
It's been running hot before (also on Gentoo). I was joking it is for
heating hands in winter. I don't mind cleaning, just I think it's not
the core issue.
I've checked and it should be running about 40C.
Searching the web didn't gave me much info. There was a similar issue
on ATI cards and the solution was to install some other driver.
Is your vaio running hot?
If not - what is your software setup?
