Tadic Visits Srebrenica Area to Honor Serb Victims of Bosnian Conflict By VOA News
08 January 2006 Serbian President Boris Tadic traveled to the Srebrenica area in Bosnia-Herzegovina Saturday for ceremonies honoring Serbs killed in the area during the Balkan conflict. Mr. Tadic attended services in an Orthodox church in the village of Kravice then visited a memorial honoring more than 40 Serbs killed in the area on Orthodox Christmas of 1993. Commenting on the events, Mr. Tadic stressed that the world should learn of the sufferings of Serb residents of the Srebrenica area. Serb forces killed about 8,000 Muslim men and boys after capturing Srebrenica in 1995 in what international human rights groups call the worst massacre in Europe since World War II. Serbs accuse Muslim forces of killing about two thousand Serb civilians, including women and children, in raids on Serb villages around Srebrenica during the conflict.
