My letter to the Washington Post on Kosovo

Luther Jett's Nov. 25 Free for All repudiation of Michael Mennard's letter on Serbia's claim to Kosovo was itself flawed. Kosovo is legally a part of Serbia as recognized by the 1913 Treaty of London and U.N. Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, which ended NATO's war against Serbia. The resolution categorically states that Kosovo is a part of Serbia. Serb forces withdrew by mutual agreement to permit NATO's occupation of Kosovo. The United States seized New Mexico from Mexico more than a century ago. This fait accompli cannot be compared to Kosovo. -- George C. Thomas Glendale, Wis.
