Putin confirmed Russia's position on Kosmet
Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed in talks with German Foreign Minsiter Frank Walter Steinmeier in Moscow Russia's stand on Kosmet, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who attended the talks, said. Russia's attitude was accepted with understanding, although it does not correspond to the position of Western partners, Lavrov said. He said it is important to coninue with dialogue to enable reaching a solution for Kosmet acceptable for all sides, Itar Tas reports. The agency reminds that the USA supports the plan of UN Envoy Ahtisaari, which provides Kosmet with supervised independence, while Russia opposes that plan and supports continuation of talks between Belgrade and Pristina in order that a solution based on compromise be found. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lavrov: A solution for Kosmet has not been defined yet During talks on Kosmet in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Secretary of State Condoleesa Rice did not overcome their different stands on that issue, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. Putin and Rice agreed they aspire towards a solution for Kosmet that will be in the interest of all the sides, but unfortunately, such a solution has not been specified yet, Lavrov emphasized after the talks between Putin and Rice.
