*Priština -- Kosovo negotiation team meeting marred by verbal conflict
between Seidiu and Suroi

* “Diverging attitudes between Kosovo President Fatmir Seidiu and
reformist ORA party leader Veton Suroi resulted in a postponement of a
long-expected decision on Kosovo state symbols”, reports Pristina daily
Lajm.

The daily writes that the conflict arose after an earlier argument over
who would participate at the summit of the Organization of the Islamic
Conference in Islamabad that took place from May 15 to 17.

The summit in Islamabad accepted a proposal by Albania, a member of the
Islamic Conference, to adopt a resolution that would support the plan of
special envoy Martti Ahtisaari on supervised independence for Kosovo.

The Kosovo team for negotiations initially did not plan to send their
delegate, but then Kosovo President and leader of the negotiations team
Fatmir Seidiu demanded Suroi went to the conference. Suroi rejected
this, explaining that decisions such as these should be made by the team
for negotiations with the consent of all of its members, not just the
chairman of the team.
