Associated Press June 8, 2007 Kosovo Albanian leaders reject delay in independence PRISTINA, Serbia - Kosovo's ethnic Albanian leaders rejected a delay Friday and urged the West to push forward a U.N. plan to grant independence, warning that patience is wearing thin in the disputed province. "We urge the international community to approve a quick resolution on Kosovo or to let us go our path," Kosovo's Prime Minister Agim Ceku said. "We cannot wait any longer. Every day of delay increases frustrations, loss of credibility of the Kosovo leadership and loss of trust in the international community." Kosovo's President Fatmir Sejdiu said the province's leaders were looking to the U.N. Security Council to quickly approve a new resolution that would pave the way to independence. "It is important for us to continue the dynamic in the Security Council to approve a new resolution," Sejdiu said, after an urgent meeting, which included the top French diplomat and the chief U.N. official. The U.S. and key European nations back supervised independence for the Serbian province, but Russia, Serbia's traditional ally, objects. French President Nicolas Sarkozy said at the Group of Eight summit in Germany on Thursday that he suggested to Russia's President Vladimir Putin that Belgrade and Pristina be given six months to work out a deal; if there is no agreement, then the U.N. plan would be applied. A Putin spokesman said only that there was "some movement" on the matter. =============== Group Moderator: [EMAIL PROTECTED] page at http://magazine.sorabia.net for more informations about current situation in Serbia http://www.sorabia.net Slusajte GLAS SORABIJE nas talk internet-radio (Serbian Only) http://radio.sorabia.net Yahoo!
