KLA threatens again by D. Damjanovic, June 30, 2007 Pristina - The most popular Albanian newspaper "Koha Ditore" has published an interview with the leader of the so-called "KLA war veterans" (Kosovo Liberation Army) Avni Mushkolaj, who said that the KLA is ready, that it has merely accepted a ceasefire in the past eight years, and that if the status of Kosovo is not resolved quickly, it will soon react. Mushkolaj advised that after three days of consultations with all branches of the "KLA war veterans" from all Albanian regions he received assurances that they are prepared to respond adequately if Kosovo does not get independence soon. "I am afraid that policies that should have been formulated in the parliament and government of Kosovo will be made in the street. Although no one wants to see this happen, the voice of the people will have to speak. We wish to say that the KLA has not been disbanded, it has merely declared a ceasefire. That means that we are prepared for complete consolidation of KLA structures. We are already prepared for this," said Mushkolaj. The same newspaper writes in a detailed text with considerable bitterness that if Kosovo does not get independence by the end of July, it could collapse both institutionally and ethnically with unforeseeable consequences which could cause great chaos throughout the Balkans. The paper concludes that in Kosovo, Europe has rapidly begun to lose credibility, which has fallen to the lowest point, and that the United States will probably have to save it from failure once again like it did eight years ago. The text further states: "The clock on the delayed Kosovo bomb is ticking, while at the same time Moscow is gleefully rubbing its hands together, Washington is biting its nails and Brussels is admiring itself in the mirror!" PROTESTS Activists of the Self-Determination movement whose leader Albin Kurti is in prison held demonstrations in the center of Pristina yesterday (Saturday), and then began circulating a petition for a referendum where Kosovo Albanians will confirm their desire for independence. Self-Determination criticized the Kosovo negotiating team in the media, claiming that its members are making decisions to the detriment of the Albanian people.
