KOSOVO: POPE, SOLUTIONS FOR RESPECT AND RECONCILIATION (AGI) - Vatican City, Feb. 21 - Kosovo needs "to look for solutions that favour mutual respect and reconciliation". The Pope is convinced of this, making an appeal to "all parties" that play a role in this "factual crisis" to act "with caution and moderation". In his speech during the presentation of the credentials, the Pope called for "the courage to pardon and accept to be pardoned, to be reconciled with our neighbours and to build on the civilization of love together in which all are accepted and respected. I know well that the Serbian people has suffered much during the recent conflict and I hope to express my deepest worries for them and for the other countries of the Balkan, hit by the sad events of the past decade. The Holy See" he stresses "shares your wish that the peace reached leads to final stability in the region". On the occasion, Pope Ratzinger also greeted the Serbian president Boris Tadic, recently re-elected, assuring "prayers for the country's people". "The Holy See has much respect for its diplomatic relations with Serbia and hopes" he added "to offer encouragement in the continuation of the efforts to build a future of peace, prosperity, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence in the region, so that Serbia and its neighbours can take their place in Europe".
