Kosmet produces almost three times less electric energy than it did before 1999 and factories are not functioning or are working at 10% capacity, he said. There are no foreign investments in Kosmet, especially now, after the illegal independence, Popovic said and added that the economic develpment in Kosmet is possible only in the framework of Serbia’s constitutional and legal order and that the economy of Kosmet has always depended on central Serbia. Kostunica calls on the USA to annul the recognition of Kosmet 24/02/2008 14:24 Serbian PM Vojislav Kostunica called on the USA to annul their decision on the recognition of independence of Kosmet and thereby reestablish the rule of international legal norms. The USA must enable the UN SC to confirm the validity of Resolution 1244, which guarantees Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, he emphasized and added that it is upon Washington to enable that things return to their previous state and that stability and peace in the region be confirmed. If not, the continuation of the policy of force is only to deepen the crisis that is undermining the foundations of the entire world order and is threatening to endanger peace and stability, not only in the Balkans, he warned. He emphasized that the Serbian government highly appreciates the stand of the many countries that have not recognized the fake state in the Serbian territory. Those countries are thus defending peace, stability and freedom as the highest values of modern world, Kostunica emphasized.
