*Albanians in FYROM demand dual state*
September 11, 2008
SERBIANNA

The ethnic Albanian movement ANDI led by Nevzat Haliti demands that the
Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia rename itself into
"Macedonia-Ilirida" in order to reflect ethnic Albanian demands for a
formation of their own entity inside the country.

"The majority of Macedonians are, together with state institutions,
against possible name changes, irrespective whether Macedonia becomes
member of NATO or EU," says Haliti and warns that ethnic Albanians will
not tolerate the state that will "victimize" ethnic Albanians because of
its "stubbornness" over the name.

"If the leaders of the state functions and Macedonian people are against
this integration, no one then can force the Albanians to be victims of
Macedonian stubbornness," warns Haliti.

Haliti wants authorities to include the institutions of the "Republic of
Ilirida" into the name debate. Haliti is also urging mayors of ethnic
Albanian municipalities to remove Slavic Macedonian language and
institute Albanian as the official language.

"Our choices are based on a natural right of equality and liberty of all
people in the civilized world," says Haliti.

ANDI is an ethnic Albanian group formed after peace accords signed in
Ohrid after which ethnic Albanians stopped their organized violence
against the state and the Christians.

ANDI demands that the western part of FYROM becomes Republic of Ilirida
dominated by ethnic Albanians who are Muslims.

Similar state was conquered from Serbia after Muslim Albanians in the
Kosovo province declared independence.

Many expect that similar demands will be made on Greece and Montenegro
in order to later unify those conquered lands into a large mono ethnic
Albania.

Yesterday, Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski appeaed to the
Macedonian Government to be careful when taking the decision over
Kosovo’s independence.

"Kosovo’s interest is to get recognition from as many countries as
possible, primarily from neighbouring countries. Macedonia’s interest is
to mark the border with Kosovo, in time and without any concessions,"
Crvenkovski said.

Crvenkovski said that Kosovo must recognize, respect and use the
constitutional name of the republic of Macedonia.
