DSS: Serbia moves towards instability 15 September 2008 | 16:01 | Source: Tanjug BELGRADE -- Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) spokesman Andreja Mladenović on Monday criticized the government.
Mladenović told a news conference in Belgrade that with its “bad decisions” the government “is leading the country towards political instability”, and motioned the drafting of the Vojvodina statute and annulment of the Horogoš-Požega highway concession. He said the draft of the statue represented a “secret, hidden, party document” and that "not a single member of the Vojvodina Assembly had seen it". The DSS spokesman added that this proved that Serbia “is getting into a political crisis”. The scrapping of the highway concession, according to him, represented yet another proof of this, since “Serbia has lost a strategic project”. “This government had no right to annul the concession, because it was not the government that signed it in the first place. It was just supposed to realise it,” Mladenović said. The DSS spokesman also criticized the reassessment of the NIS price, whose sale is a part of the energy arrangement with Russia, "a document which was already been signed and ratified by the Serbian parliament". He qualified as "flippant" the raising of the issue, which “brings into question the entire gas arrangement with the Russian partner”. Mladenović also said that the DSS will cooperate with all opposition parties, including the SRS offshoot announced by Tomislav Nikolić, "on certain issues in parliament".
