Market jumps on Paulson plan optimism
Thursday September 18, 3:35 pm ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) -Wall Street soared on Thursday, and the Dow briefly
rose back over the 11,000 level, on optimism about a possible government
plan to resolve the financial and housing crisis.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson has been shopping around a
proposal to congressional lawmakers that would create an entity to deal
with the bad debt, similar to what was done in the savings and loan
crisis, a congressional aide said.
