NATO moves in northern Kosovo
October 28. 2008
SERBIANNA
German and Austrian battalion of reserve forces will move into northern Kosovo
for an operation, it is announced.
650 reservists are moving into the area of Kosovska Mitrovica and will stay
there until November 17.
They will be in a camp of Novo Selo near Vucitrn.
It was stated the movement is part of routine operation maneuvers "aiming at
providing trained NATO troops and introducing them to the environment in
Kosovo."
Over the weekend, Kosovo Albanian separatist leader, Agim Ceku, said that
"force" needs to be used against remaining Serbs in order to convince them that
Kosovo is an independent state despite the fact that vast number of world's
countries have not recognized them.
Over the weekend a column of German vehicles left Prizren and headed toward
Mitrovica.
"This movement of KFOR vehicles is not a response to a situation, or a
preparation for any current or expected situation in Kosovo," the announcement
said.
The statement said that that the troops will try to reduce traffic jams and
that they are appealing to drivers to have patience in order to avoid
incidents.
