Serbian Assembly discussed Government impeachment
18 December 2008. 13:37
Serbian Assembly MPs have started the session on the initiative of opposition
parties to vote on the impeachment of the Government. The session is attended
by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic and the majority of cabinet members. Slobodan
Samardzic from the democratic Party of Serbia has stated that the main reason
for the initiative is Government¢s policy towards Kosmet, the acceptance of
EULEX and intention to turn the Province over to big forces. He assessed that
the Government has renounced on the defense of territorial integrity and
settled for Martti Ahtisaari¢s plan. Ljubomir Kragovic from the Radical Party
has described the policy towards Kosmet as fawning and conceding. Tomislav
Nikolic from the Progressive Party has stated that the Government must not buy
the membership in the EU by renouncing on part of the territory. Velimir Ilic
of the New Serbia Party has said that the Government does not deserve
confidence as it has not fulfilled any of
the promises given during the forming, while Cedomir Jovanovic of the
Liberal-democratic Party has stated that they will not vote for the
impeachment.
