ah, i think i'm partly wrong. most of your patch shouldn't be needed, and i realised: the "ati" driver is a frontend, it's version should stay as is. it is the radeon/radeon_old that i'm talking about. so, your original change is probably OK. thanks, and sorry for the noise! .mrg.
