I'm looking for an experienced Information Governance and Data Protection Lead for a 6 month contract based in the City of London.

My client are a Global financial services and investments company who need someone to come in and hit the ground running.
It is vital for this role that you have experience of working within different jurisdictions globally.
Given the importance of this role we are keen to hear from people who have worked in a simmilar role for enterprise sized businesses.

The scope of the role includes;
Responsibility for the following elements as part of the Data Operating Model including Policies, principles, Frameworks and procedures:
  • All Information Governance regulations that govern data underpinning ALL operational processes, systems, current and future KPIs , mandatory reports and Data underpinning company Strategy.
  • Information classification
  • External standards
  • Data protection
  • Access rights and information security
  • Archival and retention needs
  • GDPR
  • PII inventory, Privacy by Design framework, Data Protection Impact Assessments
Data & Analytics Governance
  • Review, identification and quantification of all Data and Analytics risk that impacts the business through proactive collaboration with business functions, leaders, data users, and data stewards, with definition and implementation of appropriate and validated governance principles, policies, and controls that mitigate such risk to authorised levels of acceptance
  • Proactive liaison with Compliance, Internal Audit, Data Protection, IT, and other similar functions to assure adherence to Information Security, General Data Protection Regulation, TPS, MPS, and all other relevant protocols and regulations
  • Building of effective and enduring relationships with the wider data community and in particular IT and Data Stewards within the business to identify and mitigate risks that arise from data activities, processes, and systems through ensuring mechanisms for data risk resolution, facilitating and enforcing data quality improvement efforts and policies and controls, and taking proactive measures to prevent data-related issues before they occur
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (# highlights need for specific numbers to be included in final version)
The Role Holder must successfully define and implement a data and analytics strategy that fulfils and if possible surpasses a number of Key Performance Indicators:
  • Zero regulatory or financial penalties incurred as a result of data and analytics activity
  • Zero data breaches or instances of data mis-use (including GDPR and customer consent issues)
  • All identified Compliance, GDPR, Information Security, and Audit risks resolved within timescales agreed as part of the risk assessment activity and with resolutions independently verified
PROBLEM SOLVING / COMPLEXITY
  • Drive a clear, focused strategic Information Governance data agenda, using best practice from competitors, other sectors, and leading data authorities e.g. Retail, Telecommunications, Financial Services, Gartner to extract and justify underlying themes and applications for data within a complex organisation – High Complexity
  • Able to lead and positively influence at all levels across functional and organisational boundaries, and navigate effectively within an ever-evolving and political environment – High Complexity
  • Identify, quantify, and demonstrate successful mitigation of any risk posed to data and analytics activity (including GDPR and Information Security) to reduce the risk exposure of the organisation and the consequence of penalties imposed for data issues and breaches – High Complexity
  • Ensure the data and analytics requirements of the organisation are met to high standards of compliance and customer satisfaction, and that solutions are value-for-money – High Complexity
Rate: £470 per day

Length: 6 Months'
