Log message:
First steps of teaching pkg-config about 'alpha' and 'beta' versions.
The order is 'alpha' < 'beta' < ' ' , and the common shorts 'a' and 'b'
are also accepted.
It may have some rought edges, but they will be dealt with later.
tested in a full bulk by me,
