I built a release and used the produced miniroot to boot the system
and do snapshot updates using a bwfm USB device.

Looks like it does, without the firmware package I'm getting the error
message below, boot continues, reaches installer and I can switch to
using rl0 instead.

bwfm0: failed loadfirmware of file brcmfmac43143.bin
