We run our test suite before every commit, and Bill Heagy has an
automated system that checks every change. If we have seen the problem
before, we'll catch it.

as a side question: Is there a CI (Continuous Integration) system for J?
Having a solid CI would detect regressions per commit, without finding
surprises post release.
In my job, I work in this area (CI); doing CI is basically 'free' for low
volume testing at gitlab.com for example, for this implies having the J
repo located there. I am also familiar with Jenkins, but this would require
dedicated server(s) for the testing piece, which implies $$.
