Have you tried settng the proxy info in your SJ client? Sounds like that must be the problem. The issue you have when running SJ as a service could be any number of things. It all depends on how you set up the service. Seems like somehow the SJ server is not properly initializing--the init method of the startup servlet is not running. I really don't know why that might be happening. Maybe you could provide more info about what you did to set up SJ as a service.
