YAMBIO, 11 November 2011 [Gurtong] –The three who were apprehended on
Sunday, however, denied any links with Peter Adu Rahman Sule who was
arrested last week for suspected involvement in rebellious activities
in the state.

Martin Lado, Atair Philip Atair and Warinyang Wani Laku were arrested
by security forces on diverse occasions, but have strongly denied any
links to Sule.

They told New Times that the security teams bumped onto them at night
and arrested them without any interrogation.

One of the men, Atair, who is a charcoal trader, said he had travelled
to the area from Juba to look for charcoal supplies but was arrested
by the security forces upon realising that he had come from Central
Equatoria State.

Another suspect, Laku, denied having any links with Sules’s grouping,
terming his arrest as ‘a mistaken identity’.

“My father and I were looking for our lost cow when we heard gunshots.
We both ran to different directions when I fell into the hands of the
security men who then arrested me”, said Laku.

Contacted, the Western Equatoria State government spokesperson Gibson
Bullen Wande said the three are being interrogated to establish
whether they are linked to the renegade.

He urged those displeased by the state government to embrace dialogue,
saying taking arms is unacceptable.
