Is the President subverting and abusing the law in South Sudan? In a press conference today, Nov. 10, 2011, in Juba watched live on SSTV, a subdued and angry President Kiir refused to answer why the two journalists were arrested but only briefly referred to a 2008 Act in the Constitution. Now, if Pres. Kiir felt that his personality has been attacked because of his daughter's wedding, then let him as a private citizen or let the newly-weds themselves sue the newspaper and/or the reporters for defamation or libel as private citizens. Legally, therefore, the arrested reporters are being tortured ostensibly and unlawfully in an unprecedented private vendetta but with the fullest force of the nation's police/army security forces. This is abuse of constitutional and state powers.
