Thursday, 19 January 2012 20:05

The capital of Eastern Equatoria Torit is set for the signing of the
State’s Transitional Constitution and swearing in of Governor Louis
Lobong Lojore tomorrow.

Torit Freedom Square has been decorated and the state Legislative
Assembly is being fenced.

Eastern Equatoria Legislative Assembly Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel
Ocholimoi told Radio Emmanuel that the MPs will be doing a rehearsal
session today at Freedom Square as final preparation for tomorrow’s
big event.

He explained that MPs will march from the state parliament with the
speaker holding the Constitution to the Freedom Square, and Governor
Lobong will walk 20 meters to the northern side of the square where he
will sign the charter.

Mr Emmanuel added that after the procession stops at some point and he
will proceed with the Constitution to the governor to assent to it in
front of the public.

The speaker said the signing of the Constitution is an important
occasion because it is the law that will guide the state and the
charter will come to effect following its signing by the governor.

Mr Emmanuel appealed for people to turn up to witness the assent of
the Transitional Constitution and their cooperation in nation
building.

He called for the people to desist from tribalism and involvement in
the developing that state in various areas.
