Friday, 17 February 2012 14:34

Eastern Equatoria state minister for Agriculture, Forestry,
Cooperatives and Rural Development, has called for girl child
education.

Jerome Surur Gama expressed gratitude at the performance of girls in
2011 Primary Leaving Examinations.

He said girls should be encouraged to continue with their education.

Mr Surur stresses that school girls should be guided against deceitful
people who prefer to marry them at tender age before completing their
studies.

The minister said the government is committed to provide education for
every citizen for equal development of the state.

He added that education is the way for development.

Mr Surur appreciated the support from partners in the education sector
and asked for their continuous assistance.

He said the people of South Sudan were oppressed and marginalized for
decades and education is the only way for them to contribute for the
development of the new nation.

Mr Surur made the remarks on Thursday while presiding over the release
of Primary School Leaving Examinations 2011 results at Torit East
Primary School in Torit town.
