Minister keen to see Sudan & South Sudan both economically viable
Friday, 17 February 2012 18:11 South Sudan >>> .The Minister of
Information and Broadcasting Barnaba Marial Benjamin has said his
government is keen to see Sudan and South Sudan as two economically
viable states. Speaking to Radio Miraya's Round Table discussion on
Thursday, Benjamin said Juba doesn't want to see the people of Sudan
suffering, should the country's economy collapse.

He said the 2.6 billion dollars bailout offered by South Sudan in
support of Sudan's economy reflects the good will of the government in
Juba.

South Sudan and Sudan were not able to reach an agreement on oil fees
following negotiations in Addis Ababa, under the African Union
High-Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) auspices. However, fresh talks
on oill will resume in two weeks time.

Media reports said that Khartoum's delegation has presented a paper
detailing its position on oil transit fees and how it should be
calculated, however South Sudan rejected Khartoum's demand of $36 per
barrel saying that this represents no change from previous figures.

Earlier Juba said that the fair fee should be around $1 per barrel of oil.
