It’s widely believed that actually the snake “arrested” the thief and brought him to the witchdoctor after performing lots of magic for 3 days after the robbery was reported. Speaking to Gurtong the witchdoctor, Ali Makusa a Tanzanian national disclosed that, his magic works with the “book of folak”. “The thief seen here stole money in a restaurant that belongs to a woman in Masia open market who later hired my services to track him down,” he said. After the woman, Victoria Dazangakpio reported the case to the witchdoctor he had to send what the local people are seeing as a snake but to him it was the works of magic they perform to reclaim the lost property. Makusa explained that after performing various charms, he told the woman to be patient for two to three days so as to allow the thief to bring the money back and true to fact the thief came with a snake tied on his neck up to the magician’s home as villagers watched the wired scene. Dazangakpio later explained to Gurtong that, the money stolen last Wednesday (3/ 8/ 2012) from her restaurant amounted to 160 SSP. During the incident one of the State police officers Mr. Onesmo Lako said that this was a good example for thieves in the area. Makusa defended his magic while saying that his mission is not to kill but to capture thieves in the area who are later arrested. The alleged thief was unknown at the time since he wasn’t able to talk. He is currently apprehended at in Masia police station for further investigations.
