He was speaking at the weekly media briefing in the Ministry of
Information and Broadcasting yesterday.
“The border is still fragile and tensions are still high,” he said.

According to him, elements in Khartoum have been bombing
indiscriminately and have also been targeting the oil wells. At least
one oil well is reported to have been bombed and that by the time of
the press conference, it was still burning.

The forces are also believed to have opened other front lines around
the border states and that the SAF had been repulsed from Kuek, an
area in South Sudan.

Aguer said that the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) is prepared
and that it is vigilant about the movement of Sudan Armed Forces (SAF)
who are reported to be targeting Western Bahr-el-Ghazal State.

Aguer added that the SAF are planning to annex Sirakinji, an area in
South Sudan but he assured the citizens of their readiness and ability
to defend the South Sudanese people and their territories.

He further said that they are not ready to leave Heglig area unless
Khartoum accepts certain conditions of which the Sudanese government
had publicly objected.

At least seven people are reported to have been killed and several
others wounded in the recent bombardments in South Sudan.

Aguer assured that they will not go past their current base but
reiterated their commitment to defend and repulse SAF army whenever
they attacked their base.
