SOUTH SUDAN UN DIPLOMATIC VOID ‘MISTAKE’

Tuesday, 24 April 2012 18:52

The Government spokesperson recognized that South Sudan has made a
mistake by delaying the appointment of an ambassador to the UN and did
not make its case at the international arena due to lack of diplomatic
representations.

CRN asked Barnaba Marial Benjamin at today’s Media Forum if the
Government did not make a misjudgement by delaying the appointment of
an ambassador to the UN and other important places giving all the
space to Sudan’s diplomats.

He agreed that South Sudan made a mistake by not appointing sooner an
Ambassador to the UN.

Dr Marial said some ministers and senior politicians are already
representing the Government at UN and AU level until the ambassadors
who were recently confirmed conclude an orientation course to learn
how to operate as diplomats.
