Cases of malaria on increase in Yei
Monday, 14 May 2012 06:48 Lagu Francis Health >>> . Two children died of malaria last week and 64 others are receiving treatment at Yei Civil Hospital in Central Equatoria State. Speaking to Radio Miraya on Monday, the in-charge of the hospital, Dr Samuel Kennedy urged citizens to sleep under mosquito nets and clear bushy areas to prevent mosquitos from breeding during the rainy season. The officer in charge of the children's ward at Yei River County hospital, Charles Lasu Lumori said the ward has become too small to accommodate the increasing number of malaria patients. "The common cases we have are malaria. You know, malaria presents itself with diarrhea, vomiting and fever," said Lumori. He urged the government to intervene in controlling the increasing cases of the killer disease. "Most of the children we have admitted are malaria cases. What we want government to do is to provide medicines and mosquito nets. " The commissioner of Yei River County David Augustine Juma has directed the nurses of the hospital to put mosquito nets on every bed. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
