The South Sudan Human Rights Commission has launched its strategic
plan for the next three years.

The plan spells out goals which the commission intends to achieve
between 2012 and 2015, some of which include strengthening its
outreach services to the regions and effectively investigating and
resolving alleged human rights violations. Vice President Riek Machar
officiated at the launch. The Vice President said the government has
the will respect the people's rights.

"This is not my first time to participate in forums of human rights; I
do that because we want to underline the political will and the
commitment of the government in human rights issues."

The chairperson of the Human Rights Commission Lawrence Korbandy said
achieving the plan would require commitment and hard work.

"Within the strategic plan we have the national agenda that we have
been talking about it all the time and we expect all of you including
the media to disseminate what we talked about and also to assist the
citizens in dissemination of human rights issues, human rights
principles such that every one of us in this country know their
rights"
