Friday, 15 June 2012 07:31 Muna Tesfai South Sudan >>> . Jonglei state has dismissed 21 police officers from over alleged misconduct. The Director for Operations in charge of Brigade One in the state, Mathew Mathiang Magordit, told Radio Miraya on Thursday that the officers were sacked for indiscipline, excessive drinking and absenteeism. Speaking at a general parade at a police camp in Pakwau, near the state capital Bor, Mathiang said the officers must not be allowed to serve in any police capacity again. "There are some soldiers who got drunk and after they are drunk, they will just cock the gun attempting to shoot colleagues," the police director said. "Others got absent in their deployment areas, some disserted assignment and some spent more than two to three months and will decide to come back to us - some also hide in residential areas or in market, so such person is not useful. So we have dismissed them so that command must remain clean," Mathiang elaborated. Jonglei state has 2,000 auxiliary police officers supporting disarmament activities in the state. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
