IRI survey concludes - South Sudan faces health, security constraints

The Citizen Juba, 19/06/12 - International Republican Institute (IRI)
resident program officer said according to their survey of South Sudan
Public Opinion held in September 6- 27, 2011 the citizens stated  lack
of health care facilities and insecurity from robbery, tribal
conflicts and gender violence against women.
James Turitto stated this on Saturday in a one day workshop on public
opinion polling and how media can use polling data held in AMDISS
conference hall.
James added that their goal is to gauge top regional issues so that
the policy makers and political parties at the National and State
levels be more responsive.
Naomi Goldsmith who was a former BBC journalist and now a trainer said
that politicians should take opinion poll results with great concern
because it reflects what the audience is concerned about and also it
checks on peoples think about them.
Meanwhile Naomi added that opinion poll results provide journalists
with headlines, topics for further discussion and a follow up story
based on what the audiences need mostly and hold the one concerned
into account.
