The army has started training over 1,000 people who volunteered for
military service in Western Bahr El Ghazal.

The training is being conducted by SPLA’s Division Five at the Bahr El
Ghazal Infantry Military Base in Wau, Voice of Hope reported.

The number of volunteers reached 1,383 women and men of different ages.

State Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan congratulated the volunteers for
joining the Army to defend the new nation during a visit to the
barracks on Friday.

He added that it is a considerable contribution by the state to the SPLA.

Mr Zachariah appealed to the volunteers to respect their trainers and
the instructions delivered during the training in order to be
disciplined soldiers.

He said those who joined the army in Wau are part of the
transformation of the SPLA into a professional army.

The Governor promised support to the training centre up to the last
day of training and donated some food.
