Salva Kiir Mayrdit yesterday on Saturday 14th, July 2012 presented a
full report to the African Union Peace and Security Council meeting

In the opening session of the meeting, PSC Chair H.E Alassane
Ouattara, AU Chair H.E Boni Yayi and the AU/C Mr. Jean Ping
appreciated efforts of the mediators to resolve African conflict
issues. They also called for immediate solutions for the conflicts in
Mali, South Sudan and Sudan through unity.

In his statement to the Council President Kiir pointed out a clear
position of the new state that it is committed to the full, immediate
and unconditional implementation of the AU/ PSC Communiqué issued on
April 24th, 2012 and supported by the United Nation Security Council
Resolution 2046 of May 2012. H.E Kiir said South Sudan’s relationship
with the neighboring Republic of Sudan is a great challenge resulting
in the two states being brought before the council, which he described
as a greatest opportunity.

President Kiir reported to the AU/PSC that Sudan’s failure to t accept
AU/HIP map has become the only factor causing the delay in the
establishment of the Sated Demilitarized Border Zones (SDBZ) and the
full operationalization of its security mechanisms. He also pointed
out that Sudan has further fallen substantially short of compliance
with the communiqué and resolution 2046 by failing to declare a
cessation of hostilities, not accepting the unconditional nature of
negotiations and failing to complete a full withdrawal of its forces
from Abyei.
