General Education ministry wants schools to establish Parent-Teacher
Associations (PTA) and Board of Governors all over the country.

The idea was discussed last week in a workshop in Wau, Western Bahr El
Ghazal organized by the National Ministry of General Education in
collaboration with WINROCK International organization.

Director General of Secondary Education at the Ministry Zachariah Duku
Enocka said that creation of the Association can help in the
management of secondary schools.

He said the workshop emphasized on formulating teachers’ code of
conducts in harmony with traditional values and laws of South Sudan.

Mr Duku pointed out that the ministry wants Association and Board of
Governors to run the schools very well with discipline and improve
their academic standards.

He said the bodies need to assist the ministry of general education in
Juba and in the states to implement South Sudan curriculum.

Mr. Duku added that the objective of creating the bodies is mainly to
promote the community participation.

He said that his ministry will coordinate with the state ministries to
establish the associations.

The workshop drew together 40 principals and supervisors from various
secondary schools in Greater Bahr El-Ghazal States.
