Embrace peace, Upper Nile State’s governor urges the citizen

Sudan Radio Service Malakal, 19/7/2012 – The governor of Upper Nile
state has called on the people of Upper Nile to embrace peace.
“We need peace in our country, in our state and we also need our unity
because our unity is very important -because it is the one that will
bring development. If we live among ourselves and we have peace in our
midst, in all our counties, development will go and peace will be
there. So I am urging the people of Upper Nile state so that we can
take this country ahead, because our state is special, it has a lot of
resources and in the whole of South Sudan it is the only state that
has vast resources,” said Governor Simon Kun Pouc.
On other matters, Simon Kun said the SPLM has formed a disciplinary
committee comprised of five members to draft recommendations for
handling party membership.
“The chairman for this committee is Daniel Awet Akot and I am his
deputy. We have three other members, so we went and met with this
important committee because it is committee that will see the problems
of the party. If somebody does something bad that means that person is
doing things that do not go with the political agenda of SPLM. And
also if the person has a problem with things of SPLM and with the
community especially if that person is a member of the SPLM, then this
committee shall respond to him or her because this committee is
responsible for any SPLM matter,” said Kun.
In April, 2010 elections, many SPLM senior party members contested for
various posts as independent candidates against the officials
nominated by the party.
