JUBA, 31 October 2012 [Gurtong] - Students alleged the area belonged
to the school and it is an encroachment by the investor.

Joseph Kiju, a Deputy Head Teacher at the school said the area was
agreed by the state government to be leased to the local investor.

Police were forced to fire bullets to disperse the protesting students.

It is believed that the local investor wants to establish a medical
center in the area.

“The students destroyed bags of cement which they found in the
container and burnt some mattresses,” said one of the students.

Vehicles and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area due to the
tense situation as the students are sent home in until further notice.
