Three Killed, 6 Wounded in Separate Attacks in Budi County
Three people have been killed during recent attacks by suspected cattle raiders in Budi County, Eastern Equatoria State. A man identified as Lokidodik Lokwar Ruanyeris, was gunned down by cattle raiders who attempted to steal his cattle in Nyikwatela village, Kimotong Payam. 28 November 2012 By Peter Lokale Nakimangole TORIT, 28 November 2012 [Gurtong] – The men managed to escape without the animals after killing the man. Last night at Loriyok town in Budi County, similar case had happened as a group of armed men terrorized and took all more than 60 bulls belonging to traders. The organised forces have been notified of the raid and are pursuing the raiders to recover the stolen animals. Reports say that of youth from Logiir have raided Kikilai Boma at Kuwarak grazing area where two different heads of Kraals raided. Two people were killed during the attack and six others got injured. Budi County residents have appealed to the state government to engage the two communities for peace talks and change of attitudes to create harmony. In early November, One person wass been killed in Loriyok after an ambush was carried out by suspected raiders along the Loriyok-Kimotong road. Residents of Loriyok said the attackers were moving with raided cows from Larim Kraal and are believed to be from Kapoeta South County. The residents of Loriyok have complained that the road is not secure following recent killings. Two other men from Larim were killed along the Loriyok-Kimotong road in Budi County in October. The Kapoeta South County Commissioner Martin Lorika Lojam told the press that three other persons from his county, including a woman got killed after October 26. Officials believed the three people were killed in a retaliatory attack. The resident are appealing to the state government to intervene and protect the area as the attacks could jeopardize peace and harmony in the area.
