 Tuesday, 26 February 2013 13:40 |

Four children died in a bomb blast in Khartoum Jadiid area of Wau town
on Saturday morning.

Acting Police Commissioner Albino Utho Mariano explained that a fifth
child was seriously injured and was admitted at Wau Teaching Hospital,
Voice of Hope reported.

He said the children found an unexploded 82-millimetre shell which was
buried down during the war and were playing with it.

Mr Utho said one of the children hit the fin of the buried shell with
a stone and the device exploded.

The Acting Police Chief advised the community to take precaution and
teach children to ensure their safety because there were many
unexploded bombs in the area.

Mr Utho called for demining operations in the various areas occupied
by the army during the war to prevent further explosions.
