State authorities of Western Bahr El Ghazal accused media houses of
unprofessional coverage and disrespect for sovereign government
institutions.

The charges came during a press conference over alleged reports of a
hunger strike by detainees connected with Wau’s deadly violence, Voice
of Hope reported.

State Director of Prison Service Michael Boutoko accused Miraya FM of
interviewing prisoners without permission from the Prison
administration.

Brigadier General Boutoko said the act was a clear abuse and
disrespect for the administration of Prison Services.

He assured that Wau Central Prison was the best functional prison in
South Sudan.

Brigadier General Boutoko asked the media houses operating in the
state to contact the Prison Services Headquarters in Juba in case they
need interviews or information.

State Government Spokesperson Derrick Alfred Uya accused some media
personnel of breaking their code of ethics while carrying out their
duties.

He charged that some media houses were destroying government efforts
in nation building.
