YAMBIO, 18 April 2013 [Gurtong] - The workshop is to provide technical
assistance to develop capacity of key law enforcement agents on the
child friendly justice systems.

Abui said that they are now working on the guidelines for child
friendly justice since the adoption of the Child Act in 2008.

Abui said children should be helped to have access to justice and that
they should be treated fairly taking into consideration that their
level of understanding of the law is quite different.

The state Minister of Gender Child and Social Welfare Norma Fodul said
multi-sector workshop will also give them an idea on addressing issues
on gender and equity.

During the workshop, the state Minister of Local Government and Low
Enforcement Daniel Ezibon Zingifuaboro said early marriages are key
challenge that needs to be avoided.

This workshop brought participants from prosecutors, Crime officers,
Judges, Paramount Chiefs, Police, probation officers, social workers
and child protection partners among others.
