TORIT, 20 April 2013 [Gurtong] –The campaign is to focus on their
respective husbands who have been obsessed with raiding activities
including killing practices to gradually abandon them in the state.

As advisory way to tuning them to convey important message to their
rural fellow women especially among warring communities, the State
Deputy Governor Jerome Gama Surur who made the remarks on the occasion
of International Women’s Day Cerebration held in Torit tasked the
State women especially the civilized ones to reach rural women in
remote areas with an aim to launch mass campaigns on their respective
husbands who have been obsessed with raiding activities.

He badly appealed to the informed women to compassionately educate them.

“We are appealing to you our dear enlightened women of EES to
compassionately talk to your fellow rural women in remote areas more
especially those of warring communities to stop rampant raiding. We
want them to be like you and us who love everyone irrespective of
ethnic groupings. We want those men with old attitudes to change minds
because we want to leave the past and dwell in present. Raiding and
killings always have repercussions; deaths hence resulted into burden
of widows and orphans in the society,” the State Deputy Governor Surur
pleaded.

“I strongly appeal to you, let us all be proactive in pursuing peace
in us; among those of our communities who are still warring. Let us
engage them to live in harmony. Co-existence among our communities
must begin now and not tomorrow! Let us live peacefully,” he asserted.
