BOR, 27 April 2013 [Gurtong] – Dual said that Deutsche Welle team
needs enough time to train the radio staff so that they can be capable
to handle the radio assets if the mission goes on as planned.

He said that Deutsche Welle has no confidence about the qualifications
of employees to handle the radio equipments.

Dual said that they have disagreed with the idea proposed saying that
they have two gentlemen who are capable and have been working in field
of journalism with some radio before.

Acting Director said that the newly recruited 18 people including two
directors, reported and technicians plus the TV group will take care
of the radio assets.

He said that main job for Deutsche Welle is to build the capacity at
the radio station.

“Some journalists from department of the radio were already in the
ministry of information before the recruitment of the new staff,” said
Dual Bijiek.

The Deutsche Welle Company has conducted training for researchers two days ago.

“Deutsche Welle have conducted a training last two days for the
researchers who will be sent to the counties to collect the views of
their community,” he said.

He said that they selected students from Dr. John Garang Memorial
University of Science and Technology of which each county will get
one.

The British Ambassador to South Sudan has urged the ministry to have
the radio on air so that they can able to generate money after he
visited the radio station this week.

The state Deputy director has highlighted some of the challenges
facing them to ambassador such as fuel for the generator and mobility.

Dual said that the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)
constructed the premises through the South Sudan Recovery Funds direct
from Denmark.

Bijiek said that a delegation from Denmark will visit Bor to hand over
the radio to state government and monitor the official launching of
the radio in the state.

“The national ministry of Information, Telecommunication and Postal
service has issued the frequency of the radio as 98.8 fm,” he said
adding that the radio coverage will reach up to Juba.

For the last three weeks the radio was tested and its frequency was
working effectively.
