IOM RELOCATES REFUGEES IN UPPER NILE STATE Saturday, 11 May 2013 11:30 | International Organization for Migration or IOM is helping to relocate refugees from Jamam camp in Upper Nile State to a new site that will offer better access to basic services and flood protection.
The refugees are being transferred to Kaya, 35 kilometres from Jamam, situated in an area that is less prone to flooding that can host up to 35,000 people. Relocation operations began on May 6 and are expected to continue for the next seven to eight weeks. A total of 1,210 individuals and their luggage had been moved as of May 8 and it is expected that an average of 600 persons are being transported daily. IOM is seeking funds through the Consolidated Appeal Process (CAP) in order to maintain its response at current levels. It has appealed for 13.9 million US Dollars in 2013 to maintain its provision of transport and water, sanitation and hygiene service to refugees in South Sudan. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
