TORIT, 15 May 2013 [Gurtong] – The Torit County Commissioner, German
Charles Ojok has told Gurtong that a few elements of Chalamini village
raided a three Ilieu village and both villages fall with Hiyala Payam
of Torit County.

On Monday 13, the Commissioner along other county authorities and
police forces visited the raided village where they held a meeting
presided by the commissioner and attended by village chiefs, youth,
women and elders.

He disclosed that he had informed them not take a revenge on Chalamini
village since his authority will enforce a law to ensure all stolen
goats be returned to the rightful owners as soon as possible.

Though Ilieu is also Lotuko like Chalamini, still they are always
engaged in raiding each other and also kill themselves at times.

During the meeting, a section of Ilieu community publicly threatened
to avenge if the county authorities do not take a necessary step to
ensure the over 330 stolen goats are recovered and be returned.

But the commissioner pleaded as he warns to deal with those who rush
in a reprisal saying there is no authority mandated to follow those
stolen goat rather than his.
However, the Chalamini side admitted to have 20 goats. This
contradicts figures of what Ilieu insists.

But the commissioner Ojok pledges to ensure their demands must be
fulfilled saying all these claims shall impartially and transparently
be weighed before judiciary that shall be invited to study the case
and rule it accordingly and if either side confirms wrong, it shall be
held responsible before the law.
