Greater Bor Community Says Committed To SPLM Party

The Chairperson of Greater Bor Community, Daniel Deng Kut has said in
a press statement that his community is committed to support the
ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).

BOR, 17 May 2013 [Gurtong] – The statement said that the greater Bor
community remains committed in support for the SPLM party and its
leadership and upholds the principles and values on which the SPLM was
founded.

“The current attempt by some party members to air out their desires to
contest for the SPLM chairmanship is pre-mature move. Moreover, the
manner in which the aspirants approach it sounds tribal by avoiding
organs and that is likely the party along ethnic lines, thus
understanding peace and unity of the people of our newly born
republic,” read the statement.

“In order to reflect on the history of our struggle, SPLM and the
people of South Sudan deserve a great deal of credit for their
sacrifices that culminated in the attainment of our independence,”
said the document.

They said that it is on these bases that they support the SPLM to
carry on with it vision in order to accomplish the task of national
building.

“Thus, we call upon those aspirants to base their political ambitions
on party principles rather than opting for tribal mobilization that
does not echo the truth spirit of national unity,” said Deng’s
message.

He said in addition that the party legal documents; constitution,
manifesto, rules and regulations and code of conduct that will guide
the candidates in exercising their constitutional and democratic
rights to vie for any office in the land are yet to be passed by the
party’s organs.

They said therefore, the greater Bor community at the grassroots level
refrains itself from any politics of deceit and other related actions,
and urges other to do the same until the SPLM institutional documents
are passed and congresses from Boma to the national level are held.
