Sudanese Foreign Minister Delivers Bashir’s Message to Kiir
Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Karti arrived at the South Sudanese Capital on Friday, delivering President Omar Hassan al-Bashir’s message to the South Sudan President Salva Kiir, a call for commitment to improving ties between the neighbouring nations. 19 May 2013 By Waakhe Simon Wudu JUBA, 19 May 2013 [Gurtong] - Ali who was accompanied by Sudan’s Director of International Security Mohamed Atta in a statement to the press upon her arrival said he was sent by Bashir to deliver his message to Kiir. He said the message covers issues on promotion of relations between Juba and Khartoum, commitment to the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement and a follow up of the implementation modalities by the two nations. Bashir is committed to the implementation of the security mechanism, Karti said, adding Bashir said he will not allow the insurgency in his country to threaten security in its border with South Sudan. The two Heads of States are soon expected to meet at the Ethiopian Capital, Addis Ababa to discuss recent issues that have been irked by the killing of the Abyei paramount Chief Kuol Deng Kuol early this month. South Sudanese Foreign Minister Nhial Deng Nhial expressed optimism on likely improving relations between Sudan and South Sudan following Ali’s visit, adding dialogue is the only way to sort out the differences between the two nations.
