 Thursday, 23 May 2013 14:40 |
Elderly journalists are extremely selfish because they are not
imparting the experiences they got to the young comrades to take over
from them.

Deputy Information Minister Atem Yak Atem blamed his fellow senior
journalists for not being courageous to think the future, but are
existing the profession without training their successors.

He said elderly journalists think if they trained the young
journalists they will take their places and they will not earn their
leaving.

Mr Yak advised young journalists to be courageous in telling the truth
and not to care of being unpopular.

He said one of the biggest problems which originated from Sudan is
that journalists always fear to tell the truth.

The deputy minister said the media practitioners always shy away when
they see troubles and do not carry on with their duty.

Mr Yak was talking during at the two-day discussion “How the world
views Africa: the role of African journalists in forming the
narrative” on Wednesday.
