NBGS Governor Evaluates Commissioners’ Performance
The Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State (NBGS) Paul Malong Awan is evaluating the performance of his commissioners quarterly, which an official said is aimed at improving service delivery to the citizens. 24 May 2013 By Abraham Agoth AWEIL, 24 May 2013 [Gurtong] - Earlier, a Technical Committee headed by the State Minister of Physical Infrastructure Hon. Anguei Diing and deputized by the State Secretary General Garang Kuot was formed to oversee the performances of all the five commissioners in their respective counties. The governor authorized the committee to supervise the county heads by submitting in quarterly reports on their performances. “First of all, I want to appreciate the governor for the trust he has in us, (technical committee) to have chosen us to keenly follow and inspect the performance of the commissioners,” said Hon. Anguei. “We hope this is a great achievement to our state in terms of service delivery to the communities. I would like to inform every citizen that the government has not forgotten the promises made to them earlier. “We as the technical committee went on inspection based on the realities and physical reports of what was delivered and what was not,” he explained. Hon. Anguei urged the citizens to be patient as the government works on delivering the needed services to the respective locations. He also urged the community to join hands with the government in achieving long lasting sustainable development.. “Our evaluation reports were inclusive of all locations considering the most pressing issues like health, water, security, food security, schools and among other services that basic in those areas,” he said. The minister revealed that the commissioners had improved a lot within a short time and were urged to improve on key issues of the counties in order to be at the highest expected standard. So far, according to Diing, the Commissioner of Aweil West Mr. Garang Kuach was rated the best among the five. Kuach was happy for his performance though he did not expect. “I have no objection on the current evaluation reports. There were challenges encountered during the preparation of my reports. I didn’t know that I would make it but through trial, I did,” said Kuoch. “I subdivided my reports into achievements, challenges and recommendations. Our problems in Aweil West are vast but through hard work we reduced them.” Despite being rated as the best commissioner, Kuach still insists that he has lots to deliver in the coming years with the available resources. The governor appreciated every commissioner for work well-done but urged them to do more in order to realize the expectations and aspirations of the indigenous communities. The next evaluation reports of the commissioners’ performance are expected in August this year before the final one in November.
